During your initial visit, Dr. Yoon will examine your tooth and discuss your treatment options. If you need a crown due to a large cavity, damage, or root canal treatment, we will discuss the details of the procedure and make sure you feel comfortable and informed. If a same-day crown is the best option, we will proceed with the process.
First, Dr. Yoon will prepare the tooth by removing any decayed or damaged portions. We will then take digital scans of the tooth to create a precise 3D model. Unlike traditional methods that require messy impressions, digital scanning is quick, comfortable, and highly accurate.
Once the digital impression is taken, the CEREC system will use the data to create your custom crown right in our office. The CEREC machine uses advanced milling technology to craft a crown from a block of high-quality ceramic. This process usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes, so you can relax while we prepare your new crown.
After your crown is created, Dr. Yoon will check its fit, colour, and appearance to ensure it matches perfectly with your surrounding teeth. Once everything looks great, we will bond the crown to your tooth using a strong, durable adhesive. The result is a seamless, natural-looking restoration that restores both the function and appearance of your tooth.
Once the crown is placed, we will make sure it fits comfortably in your bite. Any necessary adjustments will be made to ensure that you feel completely satisfied with the result. You’ll leave our office with a fully restored tooth and no need for temporary crowns or a second visit.
The entire process usually takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on the complexity of the case. You’ll be able to leave the office with your new crown the same day, without the need for temporary restorations.
